01/2019-05/2019
I'm Matthijs, Erasmus+ intern from Karel de Grote Hogeschool, Antwerp, Belgium at Sonntags-Club e.V. While finishing
up my bachelor's degree in Social Work I decided to do my final internship abroad and dive into the big city Berlin!
During my studies I've had a strong focus on emancipation, poverty and education but now it's time to explore and
get to know the LGBTIQA+ community.
During my time as an intern here I'll be working on a project about remembrance. What does it mean to us? How do we
want to do it? And most importantly: How does it make us feel? I'll be exploring the different landmarks, museums
and places connected to remembrance to get a real sense of what it is all about. In the final stage of the project
there will be a walk in the Tiergarten starting from the memorial to the first homosexual emancipation movement to
the monument to the homosexuals persecuted in the national socialism. There we will talk about all the aspects of
remembrance and commemoration.
Feeling excited? So am I! All the information about the project and what I'm working on can be found on the clipboard
at Sonntags-Club e.V. Do you have a suggestion of what I should check out? Feel free to leave a note!
Hopefully I'll see you at the walk!
